The main reason Heroes of the Storm is so great is that it allows you take the biggest names from Blizzard games and pit them against one another in dream battles you never thought possible before. Kerrigan gets to take on Diablo and Nova get to go toe-to-toe with Sylvanas, along with countless more awesome showdowns! The only problem is that a handful of key Starcraft characters are still missing from the game.

Everyone has a favorite character they’d love to see in the game, but I’ve selected the 10 necessary additions which would be popular with players and have the potential for a new and interesting set of abilities. Without further delay, here are the 10 best Starcraft characters still needed in Heroes of the Storm.

10. Rohana

Rohana might not be the most recognizable character on this list, but she has a few great things going for her. First off, she’s a much-needed female Protoss character with a unique visual design and silhouette that would look great in the game. Her character traits would make her a utility character that focused on providing vision and enemy debuffs.

9. Larva

The Larva would definitely be a “goofy” character similar to Murky. What would make it interesting is a creative design in which it evolved throughout the course of the game into the various kinds of zerg units. Instead of gaining talents at the various upgrade levels throughout the game, it would instead change into a totally new character with different abilities at each talent level.

8. Karax

Karax is another character that’s going to be a point of focus in Legacy of the Void, and would make a timely addition to Heroes of the Storm. He is all about weapons, technological upgrades, and engineering in general. It would be awesome to see him as a defensive specialist that focused on upgrading your forts and minions, dishing out repairs, and buffing allies,

7. Gabriel Tosh

Gabriel Tosh is an iconic and popular character that could also fill a big need in Heroes of the Storm as a Starcraft Warrior. His Starcraft unit had a stun, a shield, and even a life leech, all of which are key components of a high-sustain Warrior. He could also be a cloaked and ranged warrior, which would give him a very unique way to engage and position for team fights.

6. Izsha

Izsha is really the last major Zerg character that still needs to be in the game, and she’d be a very welcome addition. As a character who serves as an advisor that’s all about intelligence, Izsha would be interesting in the Support role. I would see her with a similar mechanic to Abathur, except she’s more heavily-focused towards healing, vision, and buffs.

5. Amon

The “Fallen One” would be amazing to see in Heroes of the Storm since he’s the primary big bad guy in the latest game. Amon would probably be an assassin built around corruption and destruction, debuffing enemies and weakening them into submission before finishing them off with deadly damage.

4. Artanis

It’s already been “leaked” that Artanis is on the way to Heroes of the Storm, but until he’s confirmed, he belongs on this list. He would be an amazing bruiser in the Warrior role, unleashing damage, leading allied Protoss into battle, and standing strong behind his majestic armor.

3. Arcturus Mengsk

Arcturus Mengsk is an obvious character to add to Heroes of the Storm. The only challenge is figuring out how his ability kit will be designed. I see him as a sort of unstoppable Warrior who is actually made stronger by taking damage or stuns. This reflects his character’s story arc in Starcraft, and would also give him a unique perspective on the Warrior role. This could be accomplished by giving him allied NPC units which spawn as he takes damage, which he could then sacrifice for shields to give him more survivability.

2. Alexei Stukov

Alexei Stukov has one of the best visual designs in the Starcraft universe, and that would translate perfectly into Heroes of the Storm. On top of that, his infestation would give the character a really cool mechanic. I’d love to see an Assassin which gets a level 10 heroic upgrade similar to Gazlowe that basically allows him to transition towards extra siege damage or extra hero damage. If you choose to go for hero damage, you would become infested and be a hardcore killer. If you choose to go for siege damage, you wouldn’t become infested, but as an Admiral you’d get to command a couple permanent units which do extra siege damage.

1. Fenix

Every time Heroes of the Storm players discuss the Starcraft character they want to see in the game, Fenix always tops the list. This list won’t be changing that trend. Everyone wants to see him return to the digital world and get a chance at revenge. He would be a sturdy assassin that complements Zeratul’s lightning-fast attacks with more survivability (please) and sustain damage. Countless Starcraft fans would start playing Heroes of the Storm if only to get a chance to see Fenix in action once more.

As you read this list, you likely became desperately aware of how many Starcraft characters are missing from Heroes of the Storm. If Eternal Conflict is followed up with a Starcraft event that adds a bunch of these characters, the roster will finally be absent of a major void.
